French Republic, Trésor Central. Specimen 1,000 francs, ND (1943). Front: Red serial numbers, green and pale orange, Phoenix arising from the flames at centre (from a work by Edmund Dulac), leaves at left and right, signatures of Chamski and Diethelm. Reverse: Green, allegorical scene of war at left, scene of peace at right, value at centre, perforated SPECIMEN, ink date "15.11.43" in top margin with red number: "12,345", faint fold marks otherwise a fresh and most attractive. Very rare! Sold £ 6,800 at Spink in September 2014, Auction # 14013, World Banknotes (lot # 605). An another sale at Spink in March 2009, Auction # 9010, World Banknotes (lot # 471).
